Yeah but with things like cocaine and other dopamine-increasing drugs, the pleasure is fake pleasure. We get pleasure by doing nothing. We didn't have to work for it. And we all know by now, when you wear out your dopamine receptors, we get a law of diminishing returns, meaning we need more of the substance to get the initial high.
Also biochemically we are wired to reach homeostasis and achieve balance with regard to pleasure, so I don't agree with this article that we shouldn't have to work for pleasure; that it's some separate thing. Working for it is natural, and in line with homeostasis.
