I'm not arguing for the moon landing being faked specifically, I just think you should be more empathetic when discussing conspiracy theories.
It's not just people peddling nonsense for no reason. The reason is very simple: a distrust in institutions.
- dylan604 3y agoI have very little time and patience for these conspiracies, but that’s because I spent several years working for someone that was into this. I’ve seen families destroyed because someone getting so overtaken that they lose connection with reality. There’s a huge difference between healthy skepticism and questioning authority to believing George Bush is one of the Lizzard People and JFK is coming back to Dallas. Fake moon landing is right there in gone round the bend territory.
- jklinger410 3y agoI wish you would have more patience with conspiracy theorists and less patience for the institutions that act in such ways that cause people to lose faith in them. If only everyone diverted their attention to that direction, rather than blame the individuals, maybe we would have the political pressure to make them change.
