ChatGPT-maker OpenAI signs deal with AP to license news stories
- RecycledEle 3y agoThis makes sense to an MBA. ChatGPT lacks knowledge of current events. The AP has that knowledge. This seems like a way to add knowledge of current events to ChatGPT. Referencing AP News stories can reduce the credibility of hallucinations because anyone doing their research would see (for example,) that there were AP News stories about 2 guys with similar names, and that ChatGPT got them confused. This helps with defamation lawsuits. I'm not sure that the OpenAI team will make this work, but in theory, to an MBA, it does make sense.
- spiderfarmer 3y agoHow long before OpenAI launches a news portal?
- fy20 3y agoWell, it can't be any worse than CNN...
- NoZebra120vClip 3y agoWhat if the contract wasn't with AP, but they made a deal withThe Onion instead? Now I'd pay to subscribe to that! Then they could partner up and sponsor "Nothing Forever" which I'd also pay to see.
- JimtheCoder 3y agoChatGPT, rewrite this AP news article in the style of "The Onion"...
- civilitty 3y ago> “The arrangement sees OpenAI licensing part of AP’s text archive, while AP will leverage OpenAI’s technology and product expertise,” the two organizations said in a joint statement. I wonder how much of this article is a hallucination
- ChrisArchitect 3y agoIs this the same AP News that tried selling NFTs awhile back? :-S
- Bakersfield 3y agoAt first I was like, "Wait, what?!" But then I looked it up and you were serious. AP sells their photojournalism in the form of NFT. https://www.ap.org/press-releases/2022/ap-to-launch-nft-marketplace-built-by-xooa https://www.ap.org/press-releases/2022/ap-to-launch-nft-mark...
