One often missed negative about digital goods, books and audio books especially, is that publishers have no incentives to lower their prices ever.
With physical books the invisible hand of capitalism alters prices to match books to buyers, creating a long tail of demand decades after publication. As a young person I used to love picking up gems at book fairs and remainder sales, exposing me to so many more ideas than I could afford at full price.
If publishers were smart, seeing fostering reading as a good thing for society and their bottom line, they would recreate this effect by gradually lowering the price on older titles.
