I find it interesting when people compare Canada to US and make it sound like a night and day liberal utopia of some sort in every way better than United States. Every time I hear that I am wondering if they know about forced sterilizations and pushing people to kill themselves in leu of medical care and such. On the surface it might seem all bright and happy but if feels there is a dark underside.
- FreshStart 3y agoIt's the same with Sweden. Sweden force sterilized the anti-social well into the 90s.in that country Europe's preww2 sentiments happy lifed on, with a nice social democracy coating. Astrid Lindgren does not describe reality in her books but a nostalgiautopia.

- klyrs 3y agoAs a Canadian, the greatest source of embarrassment is when China criticizes our human rights past&present, and hits the nail on the head. It doesn't justify what China is doing, of course, but it's utterly shameful.
