Is the plan to cultivate the bacteria from the 1 of the 15 test subjects?

  That's a good point they may not have even considered... if they are "recreating from precursor" why wouldn't you just 1. Check the status of the test subjects e.g. any new cavities 2. Get the supposed indefinite strain from one or several of the 15

    Nowhere on the page does it explain how will this grant be used. It asserts that there's nothing preventing them from recreating BCS3-L1 ourselves from commercially available precursor bacteria but it doesn't say if that's the plan. My guess is this funding will be used to look into the different approaches, and then they will come back with a real project.
