A single company controlling a large fraction of the world's communication with a heavily sanitized, vanilla feel and an algorithmic feed focus...
Meta's situation really feels like background lore in a cyberpunk story.
- ChatGTP 3y agoI thought the exact same thing. As a company they are juggling many, many balls.
- housemusicfan 3y agoWith the heavy focus on product / brand promotion and celebrities, it feels more like that movie The Truman Show.
- GravitasFailure 3y agoI don't see those two ideas being contradictory. After all, what's more cyberpunk than a corporation adopting a child, locking him into a fake ("virtual" seems an appropriate word) reality, and monitoring his every move for their own purposes? The first act of The Matrix is pretty much a condensed Truman Show.
