This transition is already happening. The younger generation seems to be spending a lot more time watching “streamers” and “vtubers” when they are in the mood for passive entertainment.
- jonhohle 3y agoAs a gen-x, I have too, but probably for a different reason. YT channels have basically replaced local and network TV for me. The “shows” are interesting, free, and have the feeling of live or current content that streaming services don’t have. I know the schedule of my favorite YT channels like I used to know network TV line ups. On the other hand, there’s something so dead, for lack of a better word, with streaming services and, imho, streaming audio.
