There is literally nothing wrong with ethics in AI, or any other field of science. What is wrong is this woke supremacist nonsense, that some imbecile in Silicon Valley can dictate the truth about the world according to the woke bible, that's where the problem lies. Americans have gotten really intolerant of other cultures and ways of life. There's 8 billion people on this planet, ffs. We don't need the heavy handed paternalistic nonsense of OpenAI. If a study is published in a research journal why should ChatGPT not be allowed to give you a summary of it? Why should it be censored because the woke cultists find it too icky?

When you start putting "ethics" in fields like biology (not medicine or bioengineering, just inductive biology) you end up with nonsense like Lamarckism. Reality has an underlying structure independently of how this structure interacts with our constructed ethical systems.

Stop using woke as shorthand because honestly I don't know what it's shorthand for. What other cultures and ways of life are Americans intolerant of? This seems to be at odds with the previous woke statement. This is why you need to use actual words that contain detail and specifics. This entire statement is market speak for twitter gen, a sound-bite to engender emotion that says nothing at all. It is itself a symptom of woke culture. Congrats.

  Point is, OpenAI prioritizes catering to this twitter American political subculture over the rest of the whole wide world. And that is just wrong, especially when they are censoring perfectly valid published peer reviewed research.

I worry about centralized control of ai but gee "woke supremacist nonsense" and "woke bible" are incredibly displeasurable shibboleths to run across. > Americans have gotten really intolerant of other cultures and ways of life. It's unclear who to me in America is intolerant. I do think there is an extemism, and it scares me, but I don't think we agree on what the scary intolerance is. And I hope I can be clearer & less bitter/extreme/polarizing when I go to discuss the intolerant extremism I see. > Why should it be censored because the woke cultists find it too icky? Censoring is a much higher bar for me. OpenAI is just some corporation, doing their thing. They aren't compelled to hallucinate anything on anyone's behalf, just because there's something out there for them to hallucinate off. An entity should be able to pick what it wants to say. And there's a lot of heinous ugly shit on this planet, and in "research journals" of varying levels of quality that would look bad to bayesian parrot back out. I can't imagine what authority, what the premise would be, to insist private companies or private citizens must ingest & output any content they find. Or any research journal content, for that too is not some clear objective qualifier; many nations & powers would & could exploit that qualifier to get in biased slanted content, if we started demanding peer reviewed journal as being compelled hallucination material.

They aren't required to hallucinate things that would harm their reputation to produce. That seems fine, & required if they are to survive. Please stop flagging replies so actively! The intolerance here is saddening.
