100% agree. The first time I noticed, I came up with the name "toy interfaces". They look very nice but have very little substance. And to think that one of the most versatile and used interfaces is a spreadsheet, which has very dense information. Talking about old vs new, you would never convince me that the abomination that is the ribbon is better than the previous interface (menus/icons).
