- solardev 3y agoThe site has a public lands focus, and unfortunately most of our federal public lands are in the West :( That said, if you filter by "hiking", you can eliminate the parking lots (which are useful for roadtrips but not for enjoying the outdoors, obviously). Also, check the other threads in this topic... you can typically camp in National Forest lands, like in Wayne National Forest an hour out of Columbus: https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/wayne/recreation/camping-cabins https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/wayne/recreation/camping-ca... Or Ohio also has a bunch of state forests with camping: https://ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/find-a-property-search?overnight-facility=Rustic%2520Camp https://ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/f... Hope you find something! If you do encounter a particularly great (or bad) one... add it to Freecampsites for us :)
