People seem to recollect past times very differently.
I'm mostly struck by the folks who seem to recall GUIs working "instantly" in the 90s. I remember them being incredibly slow and laggy, not to mention how sluggish disk access was. There's much to celebrate about older software and I'm a huge fan of retro computing, but there seem to be a lot of "good old days" glasses being handed out by someone out there.

- nuancebydefault 3y agoRemember the days that a brand new computer was fast, but after half a year, after installing 10s of programs/drivers it became very slow. The good but at the same time annoying thing was you could hear the machine "thinking" when swapping data to a rattling hdd.
