I don't know if he did actually want to work for the federal government but that avenue is probably permanently closed to him now. He'll need to explain this whole saga to every potential employer for the rest of his life because it will pop on background checks and google. Even with explanations there are probably employers who will pass just to avoid being associated with the potential drama. Every time nazis protest anything anywhere and one of them has dark-colored hair, some nazi apologist will dig his name up and claim it's him, and the abuse will start all over again. He and his family will continue dealing with that for the rest of their lives. As a result of all of these things he literally has fewer choices, less freedom, than you or I have. The damage has occurred and will continue to occur forever.
