Wasn't this a solved problem long, long ago? Mouse over the icon and get a popup tooltip that explains more. No wasted screen space on a label that's always there and extraneous after you use the program for more than a week.
- jug 3y agoBut that toolbar consumes more space than a hidden ribbon that only shows on hover. A ribbon has tooltips too. But they aren't there to solve the space problem but the information problem.
