The working-from-home illusion fades
- rogerkirkness 3y agoCompanies that are Remote by design have different management science and hiring criteria than in person companies that went remove for health measures. The notion that companies with Remote adapted management science and who filter for the qualities that make remote employees successful are more productive on average than their in office equivalents is proven in many studies before, during and after Covid. But talking about averages when it comes to productivity is about as Marxist as it gets. People who thrive remotely can get a great deal done, as can those who thrive in offices get a great deal done in offices. Company needs to match their management science, hiring and culture to their chosen path. Marxist 'taking the average of productivity and applying it equally to everyone' is crazy. It is likely true that remote workers who prefer it and thrive on it outperform average office workers, as it is likely true that average workers perform better in offices than remotely.
