The idea that a bunch of people created all the content on your social network, and their continued (often free) labor is part of the reason new people would become engaged and so keeping them happy is important seems foreign to insiders, and I don't understand why. Not as "user group research" but as collaborators who you are already in a de facto partnership with, because they create all the stuff people look at.
