Real question: is this easier and more reliable than emailing to myself for the past 20 years?
- kwhitefoot 3y agoOr using Syncthing?
- jader201 3y agoI’ll give you reliable, but how is emailing photos to yourself for 20 years easy? I mean I guess sending emails is relatively easy, but doing that for every photo you want to keep — for 20 years — sounds like a ton of manual effort.
- darkwater 3y agoWow, that sounds like a real PITA pattern for a photo backup system, at least for me and my mental model.
- adrian_b 3y agoEmailing is a decent solution, but which may cost money, unless your phone is connected through WiFi. I have always failed to see the appeal of a cloud solution. Whenever I arrive at home, I immediately move all the new photos from my mobile phone to my computer. This costs nothing, except a few seconds of my time and it is perfectly secure. I prefer to not keep any personal information on a mobile phone, except the mandatory list of contacts.
