I've used social networks since the 80s. Threads is the most annoying one

- lern_too_spel 3y agoThreads doesn't have a supported public API at all and so is a dead end, but since people still switched in droves, I wouldn't be surprised if Meta tries the same thing with Reddit. In Zuck's words: "They 'trust me' [expletive]."
- CrankyBear 3y ago<Nods> Yet another reason to avoid it.

- throwawaymobule 3y agoFor now. They're explicitly planning federation support, and mention that fact on each person's bio. (at least in the web version)
- lern_too_spel 3y agoThat's not going to happen. As soon as Twitter is out of the way, Zuck is going to want to monetize.
- xhkkffbf 3y agoIs the censorship factor high? Has anyone experienced obvious examples?
- housemusicfan 3y agoSomeone linked this here the other day: https://notthebee.com/article/metas-twitter-clone-launches-immediately-censors-the-masses https://notthebee.com/article/metas-twitter-clone-launches-i...
- somedude895 3y agoYeah Zuckerberg saying that they want to "focus on positivity and kindness" is a huge red flag. And I'll trust Twitter's Community Notes over Meta's "independent fact checkers" any day
- crtified 3y agoAnyone whose lifestyle doesn't have much to do with cellphones-and-apps is excluded from the start. That overarching exclusion puts an immediate mask over a vast range of demographics and minorities.
- penjelly 3y agoit feels like its made for celebrities and brands, i feel more invisible there than i do on twitter, and thats saying something. I know its early still but thats first impressions
- falloutx 3y agoI don't see how Threads can be any better than Twitter. It seems we are just herding from one set of wolves to another. I personally don't use Twitter and I don't see any value in threads. Do I really want to see opinions of influencers? For eg, I might like Post Malone's music but I won't give him a sec of my life to hear his thoughts.
