Whenever this sort of topic comes up I am reminded of this moment in 2010 where a blog post about Facebook briefly ranked higher than Facebook’s own login page, generating thousands of angry comments from users complaining about “the new Facebook”. Reading about this was actually formative for me, in that it helped develop the understanding that very many people out there are using and perceiving the internet in a way that is completely foreign to me.
