I haven't really used .NET for GUIs since 2012, but throwing together GUI apps was pretty damn easy the last time I did it. With the added bonus of being able to choose between the various .NET languages I wrote some industrial PLC GUIs using VB.net, and it very much felt like a more "serious" version of the old VB6 stuff.
