Here's something I've done in the past when trying to get my head round a new programming paradigm. Start learning it in late October / early November and then you should have just enough knowledge at the start of December to tackle this year's Advent Of Code with it. Note - if you haven't done all the previous years then you don't have to wait till the end of the year :)
