In the theme of mistaken attacks on shiny bits of humans like soles or watches I remember hearing years ago about a wetsuit manufacturer who had to change their design. They had a bright fish logo that was against the otherwise black wetsuit and was though to be causing shark attention. This thinking about sharks in predator mode and instinctively rushing to bite shiny things isn’t new. The same behavior exists in other animals. Barracuda do the same. Cats pounce on lasers. It’s just an instinct. If you’re in the sea and look exactly like prey you trigger a predator response.
