Am I a “Real Developer” Yet?
- orangesite 3y agoWeird, I have the opposite problem. Growing up on C I got used to lovingly handcrafted Makefiles with everything explicitly specified and visible for inspection, and I _suffer_ with these tools that just take an entry-point. Trying to dig through layers and layers of auto-magickal build and configuration systems when something goes wrong most times just leaves me flopping like a wet fish. Ended up calling it a day and now I spend my days working on tiny embedded platforms that still use circa-1975 tooling. You have my respect sir, you're just as much a real programmer and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
