  Then don't project such things as generalizations. The general fact was that working in factories was far more brutal than working on the family farm.

    It's not that I assume that my family is/was representative, it's that I don't fall for potted history because of knowing about real people. If your worldview is wrong enough, even a few data points will show with high probability it is incorrect.
