What happens when ChatGPT tries to create crochet patterns
- version_five 3y agoI tried to get chatgpt to draw and describe simple ascii charts and it failed. I also tried to see if it could understand coordinate data, like svg files and it couldn't. I was able to give it and example of coordinates for a simple shape (a triangle) and it deduced the shape. Obviously it doesn't have or pretend to have spatial reasoning abilities, it's interesting to see what it can do anyway and how it breaks down.
- akomtu 3y agoWhen you gave it the triangle shape, how many points did you specify? I doubt it will deduce a shape if you give it a few dozens of points in a random order and not connected any lines, as that requires some abstract thinking. But I totally believe that if you give it 3 points, it will guess the shape. Btw, deducing shapes from points is a good proxy to what a thought is: it's a possible interpolation between observations, and we call such interpolations "meanings".

- version_five 3y agoJust 3 points in (x,y) form.
- boredemployee 3y agoTry using it to write geometry figures in Processing. You can get some surprising results.
- rossdavidh 3y agoChatGPT is excellent at comedy. https://www.aiweirdness.com/ https://www.aiweirdness.com/ For anything other than comedy, which is not equally well done by typing your query into your favorite search engine, it seems that this kind of "AI" has no "I".

I swear to the gods and goddesses, does this attitude stem from no creativity or what? My work throughput on some tasks has 30xed. I have a GPT-4 loop that reviews SIEM logs, performs OSINT to see if anything matches know IOCs or cybersecurity news feeds, and emails me a compiled report complete with threat analysis diagrams and a list of recommend actions and pros/cons of each. Something that used to take me 20-40 minutes is now 30 seconds deciding which of 3-5 action buttons to click. It already recommends the best one most of the time with no refinement, so even that will be fully automated soon. Next I'll be automating take down letters and phone calls to registries and hosting services that outline how dipshit #37562 is abusing their services.
- seanthemon 3y agoMan i'm so glad you said something - I feel like everyone pops down one prompt, gets a bad answer and scoffs knowing their intelligence is far superior I feel totally liberated because of genAI, I used to feel major anxiety taking on side projects on top of work, it's super exhausting. Now i'm able to execute projects on a scale I could never dream of. I think people need to stop using GPT as search and start using it as a thinking-buddy. I think it's an ego thing.
- rossdavidh 3y agoIf it works for you, great! However, I see people like Satayoshi Son using ChatGPT to help him refine his investment ideas, and I cannot help but be reminded of how every previous AI hype cycle has gone: https://www.wsj.com/articles/softbanks-masayoshi-son-says-hes-focusing-on-ai-inventions-621089ac https://www.wsj.com/articles/softbanks-masayoshi-son-says-he...
