Pitting the workforce against themselves is avoiding the responsibility of making hard decisions while making a reality show out of the situation. It reminds me of this weird management nugget, I personally heard once, where the idea was to have multiple devs within the team solve the same problem and pick the best solution. It's as-if turning the office into a moshpit would suddenly optimally solve real world problems.
