The original article makes a good point but neither it nor the comments here mention my main concern with used computers-- They don't have the same clean/new-system "security" properties as a new computer. Who knows what malware/security rootkit was installed on some consumer machine that persisted in some corner of it and didn't get detected/wiped? It's kinda a crapshoot in my view.
