The processor will be more efficient and powerful, it’s going to have multiple newer ports and you don’t need to run an obscure version of Linux which won’t run tools that people in your industry use. Running Linux as your daily driver is hard as it is, running an obscure version of Linux on an old laptop as your primary machine will drive you crazy. You would end up losing productivity fixing all the bugs and random issues.
