That's encouraging, I've heard that adding a Wayland driver is a challenge because the Windows and Wayland APIs don't match as nicely as the Windows and X11 APIs.
- PlutoIsAPlanet 3y agoWell, some Windows menu apis draw by using exact coordinates on the screen, Wayland doesn't allow this (for security + embedded reasons), applications are not able to get their exact coordinates on the screen without additional xdg apis, everything is relative. This is no problem for games, because games are designed to be portable and thus use very little of the platforms API for UI, hence why the Wayland port focusses on full screen applications for now. However for applications I believe some conversion would be needed, but from the sounds of it, whilst its extra work its nothing that isn't doable.
- josephcsible 3y ago> Wayland doesn't allow this (for security + embedded reasons) It's silly to ban that altogether for security reasons. Even if it were legitimately bad for security if all programs could know where on the screen they were, there should be a flag or whitelist somewhere to override it. And how does embedded reasons even make any sense? Doesn't everything eventually have an absolute screen position?
