Show HN: Sitemap2Feed – Convert an online sitemap to Atom, RSS and JSON feeds
- matricaria 3y agoI little documentation would be great. What does it do and how does it work? Would this run on a server and fetch the sitemap? Or could this be implemented into an RSS reader?
- midzer 3y agoThanks for your feedback. Yeah, documentation is lacking. Working on it the upcoming days :)
- benatkin 3y agoIt sounds like a good idea to make it easy for more sites to have an RSS feed. Here is the code. It's pretty impressive how simple it is. It uses a library to read in the sitemap and loop through each link, and map the content and output a feed entry. https://github.com/midzer/sitemap2feed/blob/master/main.go https://github.com/midzer/sitemap2feed/blob/master/main.go
- Reptur 3y agoThis is handy, but the XML URL needs to be definable also maybe output location. Something like: go run main.go -sitemap=https://example.com/sitemap.xml -output=~/some/folder Also I'd print out the file paths of the newly created files as they get saved for better user feedback.
- benatkin 3y agoI dunno, it seems like a YAGNI situation to me. Edit: OP is probably planning on adding that. Same time as updating the README. It's fairly simple how it is right now, to just edit the literals in the code and run it.
- dflock 3y agoThis is a really great idea - wish I'd thought of it!
- ahaapple 3y agoThis tool is exactly what I was looking for!
- isuleman 3y agoWould be good if you add installing/running instructions and maybe binary relase...
