It seems everything about your current job is perfect except for the location. I’m perhaps far removed from what you are facing, but I’ve not ever met someone solely happy with a job based on where it is located. It seems you would be trading a job which is aligned with your interests for a job that only sort of works for you but offers a official location you like more.
I’ve moved a few times for different reasons. Some areas are definitely better than others. But for my two cents, there are always friends to be made where you are at and the key to happiness is often learning to be content with life vs trying to force life into some optical image you have. It doesn’t sound like the Bay Area job is truly aligned to you. Your seeking advice here seems to further indicate it. Again, just my two cents, but it sounds like you are in a good spot now and would be risking quite a lot leaving for a job that isn’t really what you want.

You are right, I might be taking my current situation for granted, and I should be doing less of that for sure. Thank you again for sharing yiur thoughts. I will try to be more receptive of new found friendships.
