https://www.pbs.org/video/how-much-of-the-universe-can-humanity-ever-see-bboivw/ https://www.pbs.org/video/how-much-of-the-universe-can-human... is a really fascinating video to watch about the observable universe.
In some ways it’s depressing that humanity is doomed to only understanding what’s in our observable universe. I really hope we find some way around it.
- Mistletoe 3y agoIs there any reason to think what’s outside the observable universe is any different? It doesn’t depress me since we have plenty to see to get a good idea and sample size to know what exists. What does depress me is the idea that far in the future all people will see is our galaxy and not know others exist.
- koheripbal 3y agoYes, because what is outside of the observable universe is the light from the big bang and the time just after it
- ianburrell 3y agoThe light from big bang is inside the observable universe. It is the cosmic microwave background. We can’t see earlier because the universe was opaque before 378k years and any light from earlier stages was absorbed.
