They are based in Australia, though.
- TheHappyOddish 3y agoGood? You seem to be implying that's a worse thing than wherever Proton Mail is based, but haven't stated why.
- strken 3y agoIt's Swiss. From memory they have pretty good legal protections for privacy, at least compared to Australia.
- davejk 3y agoAustralian law allows the government to demand access to your email, and Fastmail hold the encryption keys. That's not the case for Switzerland.
- drexlspivey 3y agoWhat encryption keys? Fastmail doesnt offer encrypted email
- davejk 3y agoData at rest in encrypted volumes. That's not saying much, obviously; you'd hope everyone is using encrypted storage for user data by now.
- spiderice 3y agoNot GP, but I would imagine they’re referring to Australia’s not-so-stellar track record with encryption lately.
- MrVandemar 3y agoIs that a negative? I guess the redback spiders do make nests in the server-racks sometimes.

- corn13read 3y agoYes definitely, Australia’s new policies on privacy and encryption are extremely bad.
