To make the screen detachable you would need to have everything in the screen section which, as others already pointed out, makes for a awkward weight distribution.
Years ago I've seen a laptop with a touch screen where you were able to pivot the screen and close it with the display pointing up. So the laptop was closed, but you were still able to use the touch screen. A MacBook Air with where you can do that and that can run iOS Apps would in my eyes be the perfect solution.
