- tdstein 3y agoInteresting. Do you have any additional information on nitric oxide that you could link too?
- Aerroon 3y agoI don't have a link, but nitric oxide in the body increases blood flow and reduces blood pressure. (Although I think it's only the upper number.)
- solarmist 3y agoThis has been known for a long time and is why bodybuilders use nitric oxide supplements before workout. Whether that does what they’re hoping is not proven, but it’s common and popular.
- phkahler 3y agoSo take Viagra?
- brodouevencode 3y agoL-arginine might be better
- snapplebobapple 3y agol-citrulline is better than L-arginine I believe. It's better absorbed, causes more nitric oxide production and doesn't cause the problems l-arginine does at higher doses (This is from my crappy memory but I am sure pubmed will be able to back this up. I am not in a space I can easily research sources again at the moment).
- jader201 3y ago> Sunlight does seem to correlate with reduced mortality Source? Every article/discussion that shows up here suggests the jury is still out in this as well.
- Malic 3y agoTL;DW - The latitude you live at appears to have a correlation with general mortality. https://www.ted.com/talks/richard_weller_could_the_sun_be_good_for_your_heart https://www.ted.com/talks/richard_weller_could_the_sun_be_go...
- slashdev 3y agoI've seen numerous findings that support this. It could just be cherry-picking, so do your own research. - High incidence of MS in northern hemisphere compared to low incidence near the equator. http://www.bandolier.org.uk/booth/neurol/MSgeog.html http://www.bandolier.org.uk/booth/neurol/MSgeog.html - Better outcome for skin cancer patients if diagnosed going into summer vs winter. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/dth.13625 https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/dth.13625 There's a decent article on the subject on nih.gov here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2290997/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2290997/ And another by Harvard here: https://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/benefits-of-moderate-sun-exposure https://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/benef...
- antisthenes 3y agoIt probably correlates with reduced mortality, because people exposed to sunlight tend to get out of the house more often and actually do some physical activity (that happens to be under the sun, sometimes).
- cpncrunch 3y agoIt would be a very poor study that didn't control for those factors! The reduction in mortality remains after controlling for level of exercise. Also, using sunbeds and sunbathing while on holiday is associated with reduced mortality, at least in this large study in Sweden: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/joim.12251 https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/joim.12251
