We used to sell opium to China, now they sell us Fentanyl. We used to polute their minds with Hollywood, not they send us Tik Tok. I would say they are also using shopping sites like Temu and their advertising to annihilate the American mind. What's left of it, I presume.
- gsatic 3y agoYou don't need China to do that. American corporate robots have been doing it on autopilot for decades.
- docandrew 3y agoI can’t confirm it, but read that in China, TikTok feeds are much different - its all stuff like Khan Academy videos and videos about becoming an astronaut, etc.
- kelipso 3y agoI'm pretty sure it's because the government enforces more restricted content to children. The company will do anything to increase engagement given the restrictions, but in the US there are no such restrictions.
- Foobar8568 3y agoBecause it feeds what ever is popular, most created etc. Most kids have a pressure to be good at school, not to date the hot girl /guy at school. So it creates social craziness in college and boardinghouse but that's another matter.
- constantcrying 3y agoAbsolutely. But blaming China as some unstopable force is just lazy and of course change starts with accepting your own fault in this.
- WillPostForFood 3y agoWe used to sell opium to China, now they sell us Fentanyl. This is a pretty sloppy use of "we". The United Kingdom is a separate country on a different continent with a seperate history of wrongdoing. It is like justifying a trade war with China on Pearl Harbor.
- eunos 3y agoBoston Brahmin including Delano Family (FDR ancestor) were involved as well.
- kelipso 3y agoLike Anglo countries don't have extremely close ties and similar governments and ideologies that they might as well be a single country.
- p3rls 3y agoThis is why I always tell people the confederacy actually abolished slavery in 1833.
- kelipso 3y agoRight, cus the south is still an independent country
- selimthegrim 3y agoAnybody who has some doubts about this should look up what the east India company flag looked like
- WillPostForFood 3y agoSure, just like the Malaysian flag shows the deep rooted ties to the United States...
- jazzyjackson 3y ago"In the early 1800s, the Brits controlled 90 percent of the Chinese opium trade. But within the 10 percent of business handled by Americans, Perkins and his brother James had the largest share. They owned at least seven ships, and held interest in others. The ships sailed from Massachusetts shores to Turkey, where they bought opium; from Turkey to China, where they sold the drug; and from China to Boston, loaded with tea, porcelain and silk." https://www.wbur.org/news/2017/07/31/opium-boston-history https://www.wbur.org/news/2017/07/31/opium-boston-history
