Why would virtual depictions of murder and violence have zero effect, but real people being mean to each other cause a complete breakdown of the social order (at least for short amount of time)?
As far as I know (and from my person experience video games do not cause violence, but desensitization to depictions of violence. Here it is probabbly the exact same, but instead of violence it is depictions of anti-social behaviour.

Being desensitized to depictions of violence is not the same as being desensitized to human suffering. It's really elitist and condescending to pretend that regular people somehow can't tell the difference.
