Kakhovka Reservoir no longer exists
- simne 3y agoRussian terrorists made crime twice on same place. First, they flooded most fertile territory in the world (to annihilate Ukrainian Cossacks), second they destroyed their own creation, to harm descendants of those Cossacks.
- PaulHoule 3y agoI am terrified of a possible terrorist attack on the Zaporizhzhia NPP not just for the consequences it would have locally but as an event that could end the nuclear power industry. It would particularly be an own goal for the Russian federation because they lead the world in nuclear energy: they're the only people who are building new NPP as N-th of a kind projects as opposed to first of a kind projects. (Korea is almost there, China might be there in 10 years but right now China seems to be building out every design they can find.) Russia has even "stayed the course" on fast reactor/plutonium economy with this beautiful machine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0Cx2nZTgQg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0Cx2nZTgQg If they screw this one up they'll be the leader in an industry that doesn't exist anymore, I can't imagine that they will be able to continue to build NPPs in other countries if they prove they can't be trusted.
- lacksconfidence 3y agoIf it makes you feel any better, the american nuclear society has been considering this and had the following to say: https://www.ans.org/news/article-5151/statement-from-american-nuclear-society-on-ukraines-zaporizhzhia-nuclear-power-plant/ https://www.ans.org/news/article-5151/statement-from-america... > Our experts have carefully considered ‘worst case scenarios,’ including bombardment and deliberate sabotage of the reactors and spent fuel storage canisters. They cannot foresee a situation that would result in radiation-related health consequences to the public
- CrzyLngPwd 3y agoThe article says Russia did it, but there is nothing to back up that claim.
- flangola7 3y agoHas anyone besides Russia or Russia sympathizers suggested there was a different culpable party?
