UN says climate change ‘out of control’ after likely hottest week on record
- johnny99k 3y agoSince when does temperature = climate? When we were supposed to have global warming and we had many cold days in a row, this is the response I saw when someone questioned it. Climate takes decades (or even centuries) to change. A few hot days in a row doesn't change that.
- Capricorn2481 3y agoIt's not that it was hot last week, but that we're trending more extreme weather every year. > Climate takes decades (or even centuries) to change. A few hot days in a row doesn't change that. The climate has measurably changed, and pretty much every corner of the world acknowledges that now. I'm not sure why you're pretending this article is the only evidence of it
- nyc_data_geek1 3y agoThe equatorial world is rapidly becoming uninhabitable due to dangerous levels of heat. Biosphere is rapidly collapsing which will mean eventually there will be no food for you to eat. Is that climatic enough to meet whatever arbitrary bar you're setting?
- lotsoweiners 3y agoWhat a very convincing argument you’ve presented here. Great job!
- csomar 3y agoIf this doesn't get better in the next couple years, we are going to see some major challenges (and maybe wars/civil wars). Iraq is expected to have 50C+ temperatures for the next weeks and it doesn't seem to be getting better. Expect massive people/refugee movements as life becomes unbearable in some parts of the world.
- 3000 3y agoimagine the amount of people who will move to europe, not because they want to, looking for opportunity, due to war, due to politics, but because they HAVE to. its gonna get very nasty, very quick. :(
- pschuegr 3y agoSadly I think this is correct. The world is about to wake up from the illusion of an infinitely resilient environment with some brutal regrets, and I don't think people are at their best when their lifestyle and security is threatened.
