I think the funniest thing is that the guy thinks he hold some sort of sword.
It was an invitation to discussion, their non-participation doesn't irk Meta in the slightest since 99.99% of Thread's users won't care about a "fosstodon" server being integrated.
Tbh a large company with money & sway integrating with something like Mastodon is actually a step in the right direction; their only mistake was not realising that the majority of mastodon users are completely at odds with: large businesses like Meta _and_ the average person.
I don't think I've seen a single Mastodon server full of non-tech, unopinionated people discussing regular non-tech things/shooting the shit as people do on the larger social networks.
Mastodon is still not decentralised as afaik your profile/posts are stored on your home server; they aren't copied/duplicated to friendly servers. If the server owner decides they don't like you, or to just shut down. Everything is gone. How do even the super opinionated tech nerds think that this is better other than "durr corporations bad" (they are, but besides the point).
I thought they were building something better and more resilient? Usage should be transparent and easy but it's not, they have no idea how to capture the 99.99% userbase of average joes who don't care which operating system they use or that something is "federated" or what it means.
Social media platform is a tool, not a religion. I think that's always been the issue with things like this, Linux, etc.
