"It may delight you to know, then, that they've started building ..." Unfortunately, "high speed" is a misnomer. This would have been high speed rail had it been deployed before 1990. At this time it is just "rail" and when it is finished we will be back where we started: 40-ish years behind the state of the art with a product inferior to other modes of travel.
