So why doesn't the U.S. allow doctors to immigrate to this country? The median American MD makes $143K; I'm sure that plenty of foreign doctors would love to come here and make half that.
- ktizo 15y agoWell, I suppose protectionism does have to have some unintended benefits for the rest of the world.
- prostoalex 15y agoThere's no specific provision disallowing immigration of doctors. For obvious reasons it's an occupation that requires licensing/certification, which is more cumbersome than many are willing to consider, and reasonable English, which is usually not a priority in medical schools around the world.
