The feature isn't even fully built yet (116 will include more iteration on this and meanwhile 115 ships with no domains in the quarantine list).
But every little hint of a possible misstep by Mozilla turns into a drama vortex in this community these days.
- logicprog 3y agoMozilla does do a lot of underhanded or anti-user things, including the boatloads of telemetry some of which goes through Google Analytics. However, Mozilla is still a lot better than Google, and Firefox is leaps and bounds better than Chrome in terms of privacy, even given all of the problematic things Mozilla has done, even if the fact that there's a big controversy every time Firefox does something bad while everyone just expects Chrome to do bad things and so doesn't talk about it gives the impression that Firefox is worse. I think that's actually the reason why there's a big outcry every time Mozilla does something like this — Mozilla Firefox is kind of one of the last browsers to be relatively respecting of people's privacy and definitely one of the last ones outside of Google's Chromium dominion, so it means a lot more when they do bad things.
- rightbyte 3y ago> Mozilla does do a lot of underhanded or anti-user things, including the boatloads of telemetry some of which goes through Google Analytics What? For real? How hard can it be to not be a Google shill ... They have to have really toxic people internally pushing all these anti-feutures down our throats. I refuse to believe the whole org. is rotten.
- ilyt 3y agoThat from company that force-installed addons for marketing purposes... and you wonder why people are careful around another "genius" idea from Mozilla.
- BaseballPhysics 3y agoOnce. 6 years ago. Stupid? Yes. Did they ever do it again? No. I'll give it to the tech community, we have a long memory. Then again, people still talk about fears of EEE and that's twenty-five years old now...
- JohnFen 3y ago> The feature isn't even fully built yet OK, but then why are they shipping it right now? Why not ship it when it actually exists?
