Do US leaders care about de-stabilising anyone else? American citizens very recently elected a political leader based on the explicit idea of 'America first'. Do we condemn a political leader of another country to have similar priorities?
As it happens, CPC anti-thesis to crypto because it is anti-thetical to any systemic threat to its control. HK, whilst part of China, is still under 'one country, two systems' - has separate taxation, currency, legislative regime - therefore a reasonably safe place to experiment
- jqpabc123 3y agotherefore a reasonably safe place to experiment. And conversely, they obviously consider any further experiment with crypto in China to be not just *unsafe* but also *illegal*. Unsafe for me but not for thee. This overt expression of their take on crypto is impossible to deny and runs counter to the "fumbling" viewpoint expressed in your original post.
- hunglee2 3y agofumbling? My characterisation of the policy is here is far from CPC being unwitting or clumsy, it is quite deliberate. However, HK providing a safe zone for the CPC to experiment is not the same as being deliberately malevolent to any one else.
- jqpabc123 3y agoYes, "fumbling" --- this was your characterization of US policy, not the CCP. not the same as being deliberately malevolent to any one else. You conveniently forget that China experimented with crypto for years --- before ending the experiment with a total ban. Just a few years ago, most crypto mining was taking place in China. The largest crypto exchanges were started in China by Chinese nationals. They maintained operations in China for years despite being officially banned --- and deliberately hid this from the rest of the world --- with the CCP's complicity. This sort of deception is not "deliberately malevolent" where you are from? https://www.pymnts.com/cryptocurrency/2023/binance-concealed-deep-ties-china/ https://www.pymnts.com/cryptocurrency/2023/binance-concealed...
