Wouldn’t Amazon be trivially able to detect this when the weight / dimensions of the product completely changes? Though I guess they don’t care because they get their cut. I don’t even think they pay for the returns as they’d pass that on to the seller.

Seems trivial by simply showing a timeline of star ratings. I imagine Amazon is incentivized against such self-incrimination.
