The problem is it's not just storing all of the jigs in a mothball warehouse, it's that a BOM for a 5-deep subassembly subcontractor vertical supply chain may have no substitute for custom parts with a 12-month+ lead time and require the living process knowledge of particular technicians, engineers, machinists, operators, and more to deliver the goods. Companies go out of business, employees retire, and then you're like a VW mechanic looking for NLA parts or 3D printing your own. Then you're calling around, bribing companies to make your custom shit that they may not make anymore. This shit takes a lot of time and logistics.
