I would replace "Aristotle" to "Ancient Greeks" or "Ancient Stoics" in your sentence. Example:
https://www.google.com/search?q=gold+christian+rule https://www.google.com/search?q=gold+christian+rule (results in some quote from the Bible)
https://www.google.com/search?q=golden+rule+of+plato https://www.google.com/search?q=golden+rule+of+plato (results in very similar quote which has been said way earlier).
- ttonkytonk 3y agoChristian/Judeo (as well as ancient Greek) thought is probably indebted to the thought of places like Egypt and Ethiopia as well. Interestingly, I think in both The Illiad and The Odyssey there is a mention of a god making a trip to Ethiopia.
- eimrine 3y agoPythagoras studied Math in Egypt so I agree with you in this place. The Illiad is the most ancient writing AFAIK but I do not understand what are you saying in this sentence.
- ttonkytonk 3y agoMy point is that Ethiopia is mentioned, and therefore there is probably some influence there.
