- Eddy_Viscosity2 3y agoThere is a thing called Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS) where ships voluntarily transmit weather and sea condition data for meteorological studies. Someone realized there are all these floating sensor suites moving around an managed to organize all the various ship owners to participate because it helps weather predictions for all.
