There’s a really great movie about AI called 13th Floor. Its plot is roughly that of The Matrix, but it spends more time dwelling on the fact that most humans are really computer programs. In the end, we, the AIs, can’t actually fight reality. The real people, living in the year 2024, can just pull the plug, or rewrite us. The same is true for actual AIs. We can just pull the plug. Regarding the argument that “we” won’t want to pull the plug because the minority who control AIs are getting rich - that’s just technology.
