Men hunt and women gather? Large analysis says the long-held idea is wrong
- JoeAltmaier 3y agoOne wonders if it was ever anything but the anthropologists projecting their own views on ancient societies. For instance a report I read years ago mentioned "Hunting tools and cooking tools were kept in separate places in the huts" at some excavation. Their conclusion? "Even millennia ago there were separate duties for men and women." How was that anything but made-up crap projection? Did they find estrogen on some of the implements and testosterone on the others? Did they have a time machine and see it? Don't bachelors keep their fishing rods separate from their cooking pots too? There's a term, 'his-story' meaning 'when you don't know enough, just spin a yarn'. I think that's much of what we 'know' about ancient peoples.
